We are fully committed to sustainability, supporting Ealing Council’s aim of carbon-neutral status by 2030 by ensuring that Greener Ealing Ltd has the smallest possible environmental footprint.
We take an active approach to sustainability by tackling CO2 and now and in the future we will always prioritise sustainability during our procurement processes. Where possible we are exploring the transition to Electric Vehicles (EV) to increase our CO2 savings.
We estimate that we are delivering a 17% reduction in carbon emissions year on year based on comparing GEL’s diesel consumption – we measure this regularly and consider and adapt to reduce the impact of idling vehicles or route optimisation on CO2 emissions as well as how our vehicle compaction pressures are calibrated.

With 410 frontline staff who need the right uniform to keep them safe and seen – it’s a challenge to be true to our carbon neutral vision, but we hold a swap shop, so when our teams collect their new kit, they are required to swap it for old PPE and hand it back. We recycle it with a full audit trail and certified proof it has been 100% recycled in the UK.

GEL recognises that tackling waste in our office is also essential in our sustainability ambition to become carbon neutral. So we’ve introduced measures to eradicate single-use plastics and provided all team members with GEL recycled water bottles and had direct water feeds installed.
