Waste & Recycling

Greener Ealing’s waste and recycling team of 123 staff makes approximately 280k household waste and recycling collections from your home every week. All kerbside homes also receive weekly collections of food waste recycling (green food waste bin) which makes up about 100k collections. There are also fortnightly collections of your non-food recycling (blue wheelie bin).

Garden Waste

Residents also receive fortnightly waste collection services (black wheelie bin) and can, if they wish, sign up to receive garden waste recycling services via Ealing Council’s website. A charge applies for garden waste collections. Alternatively, you can book a slot at one our recycling centres and dispose of your garden waste there – or how about making your own compost?

Home Recycling

If you live in a flat above a shop, or in an estate, you will either receive a mixed clear sack recycling service or will have communal recycling and waste facilities. We want to encourage you to recycle as much as possible to reduce the amount of waste being incinerated or ending in landfill.

Please place your recycling or waste out for collection by 7am on your collection day.

HWRC

We run the main household waste and recycling centre in the borough, in Greenford, which provides an alternative place for you to recycle items and dispose of waste responsibly.

Grounds Maintenance

We aim to ensure that all the green spaces provide a safe place of enjoyment for people and wildlife. We maintain 10 larger parks on behalf of the council, as well as many other smaller green areas.

Street Cleansing

There are approximately 100 staff in the street cleansing team, in charge of keeping the 640km of roads and paths in the borough clean and free from litter – that’s about the distance from London to Aberdeen!
