What we do

The Greener Ealing Grounds Maintenance team aims to ensure that all the green spaces provide a safe place of enjoyment for people and wildlife. We maintain 10 larger parks on behalf of the council, as well as many other smaller green areas. The quality of our parks and open spaces enhances the borough’s reputation as one of the greenest and most beautiful in the capital.

In addition to its core environmental services, Greener Ealing plays an important and often unseen role in supporting bereaved families across the borough through its dedicated Cemeteries Team.

Our team look after Ealing’s:

  • Parks
  • Open spaces
  • Nature conservation areas
  • Cemeteries
  • Playgrounds
  • Sports pitches

Green Flag parks

Ealing is proud to have Green Flags flying over 24 of its parks and open spaces. The prestigious Green Flag Awards scheme is run by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy. The awards are judged by more than 700 green space experts who assess using eight strict criteria including horticultural standards, cleanliness, sustainability and community involvement.

The borough is renowned for its large number of parks and open spaces. One of the most well-known Walpole Park holds several events every summer including the Ealing Jazz Festival and Ealing Comedy Festival.

What we do

There are also four major nature conservation sites in Ealing: click on the ‘Find out more’ button below to see where they are located.

Brent River Park, Hanwell

The riverside joins the large open spaces of Pitshanger, Brent Lodge and Elthorne parks to give a wide range of recreation opportunities with fantastic walks and cycle paths to enjoy. Large areas of the park have open public access, with approximately 50 roadside entrances for pedestrians.

Islip Manor Meadows, Northolt UB5 5ST

A wet meadow at the edge of Northolt, near the Target Roundabout. It can get very muddy so you may want to bring your wellies if you visit! In 1880 it was producing 100 tons of hay a year. The land was purchased by Middlesex County Council and the borough council in the late 1920s and 1930s and today forms part of the green belt.

Northolt Greenford Countryside Park, also known as Northala Fields

There are good public transport links and many entrances to the park for easy access. It links 110 hectares (270 acres) of open space in the northwest of the London Borough of Ealing, formed by linking smaller parks, playing fields and countryside sites to provide a varied habitat that includes meadows, scrub, woodlands, wetlands, ponds and small lakes. It is crossed by the A40 Western Avenue, west-east, and the Grand Union Canal, north-south.
