What we do

There are approximately 100 staff in the street cleansing team, in charge of keeping the 640km of roads and paths in the borough clean and free from litter – that’s about the distance from London to Aberdeen!

Our team looks after Ealing’s:

  • 12km of roads and public footpaths cleansed twice or more each day
  • 44km of roads and public footpaths cleansed once per day
  • 74km of roads or public footpaths cleansed weekly (that’s about the distance from Ealing to Oxford)
  • 15km of roads through industrial areas cleansed weekly, 30km of TFL streets cleansed weekly
  • 169 housing estates cleansed weekly
  • 14 TFL subways cleansed weekly
  • 900 litter bins emptied every day

How to report a problem

Emergency cleaning can be requested where unsanitary or potentially harmful material is found in a public place, including fuel spills or dead animals.

When making a report you will need to provide:

  • The street name and closest door number, where possible
  • A description of the problem such as wet leaves or litter.

Report it online or call 020 8825 8825 (24 hours a day).

Grounds Maintenance

We aim to ensure that all the green spaces provide a safe place of enjoyment for people and wildlife. We maintain 10 larger parks on behalf of the council, as well as many other smaller green areas.

HWRC

We run the main household waste and recycling centre in the borough, in Greenford, which provides an alternative place for you to recycle items and dispose of waste responsibly.

Waste & Recycling

Greener Ealing’s waste and recycling team of 123 staff makes approximately 280k household waste and recycling collections from your home every week. All kerbside homes also receive weekly collections of food waste recycling (green food waste bin) which makes up about 100k collections. There are also fortnightly collections of your non-food recycling (blue wheelie bin).
